x + 1%2F6 = 4%2F3
First get rid of those annoying fractions, mult by 6, resulting in:
6x + 1 = 2(4)
Subtract 1 from both sides
6x = 8 - 1
6x = 7
divide both sides by 6
x = 7%2F6

See if this works, replace x with 7/6 in the original equation
7%2F6 + 1%2F6 = 4%2F3
Which is
7%2F6 + 1%2F6 = 8%2F6
