f(x)=9x^4+19x^3-2x^2+x+4 ; x+2
Determine f(-2)
f(-2)=9(-2)^4+19(-2)^3-2(-2)^2+(-2)+4
=9(16)+19(-8)-2(4)+2
=144-152-8+2
=-14
So x+2 is not a factor of f(x)
If it was a factor f(-2) would have been zero.
