Question 453443: Hello,
Appearently my question is not easy.
There are 2 options:
1. You are born with mathematical genes. Than my question isn't interesting.
2. You are not born that way. (Like me).
In that case you have a problem, because the people who could help (option 1 above), are not really interested. (Even many teachers are not focussing on my type of question at all).
I hope you will find the right words to help.
My problem is that I need some good examples of practical use, before I can learn equations, how to solve them. I just don't see the need.
If you often have practical profit of the knowledge to solve equations than you are the one I'm looking for...!
The reason why I want to know this, is that somebody ever told me, that mathematics are a sort of geography in math-land. When you know the rules than you can go from a to b easily. In other words: You can find impossible (..) solutions for real math problems, when you know when to use it.
So, I like to be able to travel. But only with knowledge of the possible roads able to choose the best.
Thanks for your efforts in advance,
Huub.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Google "math applications" or "equation applications"
or "algebra applications" online to see many sites that
talk about applications.
