Question 452393: 8x+1=x+43
Answer by studyden(2)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
8x +1= x +43

Subtract x from both sides
8x +1= x +43
-x____-x__
7x +1= 43

Subtract the 1 from each side
7x +1=43
___-1_-1_
7x = 42

Divide both sides by 7.
7x/7 = 42/7

x= 6

Check x=6 for 8x+1= x+43

Multiply constants on both sides
8 (6) +1= (6) +43

Add
(48) +1= (49)

49= 49
true
