Actually, it does factor. Note that x is a factor in all of the terms, so let's factor that out first. The result is:
3x%5E3+%2B+2x%5E2+%2B+8x+=+x%283x%5E2+%2B+2x+%2B+8%29
Now, let's take the second expression and factor that further:
x%283x%5E2+%2B+2x+%2B+8%29+=+x%283x-4%29%28x%2B2%29
