The addition principle just states that addition can be undone with subtraction (adding a negative)
2x%2B6+%3E+x%2B12
SUBTRACT 6 ON BOTH SIDES
2x+%3E+x+%2B+6
SUBTRACT X ON BOTH SIDES
x++%3E+6
