x(x + 4)/(x + 3) • (x + 3)(x - 3)/(x + 4)(x - 3) {factored everything}

x(x + 4)(x + 3)(x - 3)
---------------------- {you can either cancel or multiply through the numerators and denominators}
(x + 3)(x + 4)(x - 3)

= x {the (x + 4)'s cancel, and the (x + 3)'s and (x - 3)'s}
