Question 403178: HI i am taking Geography i know that this is for math but in this case it does pertain.:
I am trying to figure out ratios using cross multiplication
1 inch on a map is the equivalant to 24000 inches on the ground (in real life)
5280 ft. in 1 mile
If the distance on the map is 10 inches, than how many miles is that on the ground?
so far i have tried:
1/24000=10/x
24000*10=1x
240000=x
240000/5280=
45.5 miles
I hope i wrote that so it made sense, i would like to know if i did that correctly?

You can put this solution on YOUR website! in ft/mile x in/ft = in/mile in / in/mile = miles
I'm not sure of the accuracy, but method
seems OK
