Question 38854: This is a question from my review sheet for my final also.. not sure if I am doing this right..
Solve the system by the method of substitution.
y=x^2+3x+6
y=x^2+3
I made this equation: x^2+3=x^2+3x+6
I subratcted the 3 from both sides to get: x^2=x^2+3x+3
WHERE DO I GO FROM HERE??

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
y=x%5E2%2B3x%2B6
y=x%5E2%2B3
I made this equation: x%5E2%2B3=x%5E2%2B3x%2B6
I subratcted the 3 from both sides to get: x%5E2=x%5E2%2B3x%2B3
From here you need to do the following:
x%5E2-x%5E2=x%5E2-x%5E2%2B3x%2B3
0=3x%2B3
-3x=3
-3x%2F-3=3%2F-3
x=-1
Now plug x=-1 into the original equation:
y=%28-1%29%5E2%2B3%28-1%29%2B6
y=1-3%2B6
y=4
x=1
These are the solutions.
