You can
put this solution on YOUR website!
You want to use the substitution property here.
Get the first equation to get as to an "x=..." or "y=..."
So, rewrite the first equation to be in slope-intercept form. y= -x+4
Substitute this equation in on the second equation
2x-(-x+4)=5
Simplify:
3x+4=5
3x=1
x=1/3
Now plug in your answer on one of the original equations.
(1/3) + y = 4
y = 4 - (1/3)
y = 3
Therefore:
x = (1/3)
y = 3
