Okay lets start by starting off with what we know. Here is a simple mental question that you can use any time. Do we have like terms? Like terms are when we have separation by an operation but have the same variable...like 2x+3x. In this equation that you gave we do have like terms on opposite sides of the equal sign.
To begin we have to isolate h on one side of the equal sign, I like bringing the variable to the side which has a greater coefficient. So we are going to subtract 2h on each side leaving us with -12=3h.
Now, all we have to do is get 3h into plain old h. SO...we are going to divide by three, whatever we do to one side of the equal sign, we gotta do to the other. So now we have
-4=h because a negative divided by a positive gives us a negative.
