Question 322310: I am having a problem with this question. This guy took a trip two times. The first time he was charged $210 for 625 miles. The next time he was charged S133.5 for 370 miles. Whats is the base rate, and how much he was charged for each mile

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The cost for each trip is the sum of a base rate plus a variable amount based on mileage
210+=+BaseRate+%2B+625%2ACostPerMile
133.5+=+BaseRate+%2B+370%2ACostPerMile subtract this equation from the one above
-------------------------------------
210-133.5+=+0+%2B+%28625-370%29%2ACostPerMile
76.5+=+255%2ACostPerMile
76.5%2F255+=+CostPerMile
0.3+=+CostPerMile
Using this variable rate, go back and solve for the BaseRate
210+=+BaseRate+%2B+625%2A0.3
210+=+BaseRate+%2B+187.5
210+-+187.5+=+BaseRate
22.50+=+BaseRate
Check your answer
Does
133.5+=+22.50+%2B+370%2A0.3???
Get it??
