how do you write this as an equation?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
This is how I interpret: "Twice the sum of 4 and three times some number is 34."

2%284%2B3x%29=34

4%2B3x=34%2F2

4%2B3x=17

3x=17-4

3x=13

x=13%2F3

x=4.3333

Are you sure the numbers in the problem are correct? I'm coming up with 4.3333 as the value of "x"... which is unusual for these kind of problems. Teachers usually give you problems that result in whole numbers. Anyway, you can see how it's done. If you need to change the numbers, just use the same equation.
