One number is two more than three times another. The sum of the numbers is 26. What is the lesser number?

Let one number = 3x
Let the other number = 3x+2

The equation becomes: 3x%2B%283x%2B2%29=26

Now solve for "x", then multiply by 3 to find the lesser number.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
let n be the first number
n=2+3n
n+3n+2=26
4n=24
n=6
3"*6+2=20
and 26-6=20
the other number is 20
