To find x
x+7(5-x)=4
x + 7X5 - 7x = 4
x+35 -7x = 4
(x-7x) = 4-35 (taking 35 from the left side to the right side)
-6x=-31
x = (-31)/(-6) = 31/6
Answer: x = 31/6
Verification:
Putting x = 31/6 in x+7(5-x)=4
LHS = 31/6+7X(5-31/6)
= 31/6+ 7X(30-31)/6
