Question 24770: Having trouble with this one. This is as far as I got in solving this literal equation:
Solve:S=2wh+2wl+2lh,solve for h
S-2wh-2wl=2lh
but then I got confused because the answer is h= s-2wl/2w+2l
Can you please help me figure out how they got to this answer?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
you need all the terms with h in on one side and all the other terms on the other side. So,

S=2wh+2wl+2lh
s - 2wh - 2lh = 2wl
-2wh - 2lh = 2wl - s

converting all signs gives 2wh + 2lh = s - 2wl

Now factorise, to give h(2w + 2l) = s - 2wl

And final answer is:

3) S - 2wl = 2h (w + l)
4) (S -2wl)/(w+1) = 2h
