Similarly %28a%2Bb%29%28c%2Bd%29 = ac%2Bad%2Bbc%2Bbd
Now your problem (4y+3)(y²+3y+1) becomes
4y%5E3+%2B12y%5E2+%2B4y+%2B+3y%5E2+%2B9y+%2B3
Adding all the like terms i.e all terms that have co-efficient y%5E2 and y
