You can put this solution on YOUR website!
How would I solve for x?

-3x%2B6%28x%2B4%29=9

Step 1. Multiply to get rid of the parenthesis.

-3x%2B6x%2B24=9

Step 2. Combine x-terms

3x%2B24=9

Step 3. Subtract 24 from both sides of the equation

3x%2B24-24=9-24

3x=-15

Step 4. Divide by 3 to both sides of the equation

3x%2F3=-15%2F3

x=-5

Step 5. Substitute x=5 into the original equation -3x%2B6%28x%2B4%29=9 to check solution.

-3%2A%28-5%29%2B6%28-5%2B4%29=9

15%2B%28-6%29=9

9=9 which is a true statement.

Step 6. ANSWER: Solution is x=-5.

I hope the above steps were helpful.
