Question 226610: hello i am doing basic algerbra equations and i am working with word problems and the catorgire is solving equations with variables on both sides of the equation and if possible could you do the eqation in order step by step so i will understand how to do it and i am new at this

suppose a roast should be cooked for 45 minutes plus 10 minutes for every pound the roast weighs. If a roast is properly cooked in 3 hours, how much did it weigh?

Coverting 3 hrs to 180 min
Let x = weight of the roast

A simple equation
10x + 45 = 180
10x = 180 - 45
10x = 135
x =
x = 13.5 lb
