Step 1. Add w-u to both sides of the equation to put u terms on the left side and w terms on the right.

4u-w=u%2B6w (given)

4u-w%2Bw-u=u%2B6w%2Bw-u

3u=7w

Step 2. Divide by 3 to both sides to solve for u

3u%2F3=7w%2F3

u=7w%2F3

Step 3. ANSWER: u=7w%2F3
