Question 197335: Hi!
I checked over this problem a few times, I put it into the point slope form but I'm not sure what I did wrong in my answer:
Find an equation of the line that satisfies the given conditions
through(2,2); slope 2/3
thanks!

You can put this solution on YOUR website!

y-y%5B1%5D=m%28x-x%5B1%5D%29

m=2%2F3, x%5B1%5D=2, y%5B1%5D=2

y-2=%282%2F3%29%28x-2%29

Multiply through by 3:

3%28y-2%29=3%282%2F3%29%28x-2%29

Cancel the 3's on the right:

3%28y-2%29=cross%283%29%282%2Fcross%283%29%29%28x-2%29

3%28y-2%29=2%28x-2%29

Distribute:

3y-6=2x-4%29

Add 6 to both sides:

3y=2x%2B2

Now you can go two ways from here.

1. Standard form:

3y=2x%2B2

Add -2x to both sides:

-2x%2B3y=2

Multiply by -1 so first term will be positive:

2x-3y=-2

============

OR

============

2. Slope-intercept form:

3y=2x%2B2

Divide through by 3

y=2%2F3x%2B2%2F3
