You can put this solution on YOUR website! You can solve this system of equations by subtracting the second equation (y = 2x+1) from the first equation (y = 3x+6) and solving for x.
y = 3x+6
-(y = 2x+1)
0 = x + 5 Subtract 5 from both sides.
x = -5 Now substitute this value of x into either of the two equations and solve for y. Take the first equation.
y = 3(-5)+6
y = -15+6
y = -9
The solution is: (-5, -9) This is the point at which the two lines, represented by the two linear equations, intersect.
