You can put this solution on YOUR website! True or false: The function "f(x) = 4x" grows four times faster than the function "g(x) = x". Explain.
----------------------
The slope of 4x is 4 times that of g(x), so f(x) increases at 4 times the rate of g(x).
It's 4 times AS fast, which is 3 times faster, NOT 4 times faster.
False.
---------------
4 times as fast is not the same as four times faster. What if it's 1 times faster? That's obviously not the same speed, or the word "faster" would not be there. This is common gibberish you hear on TV and even from some people you would expect to know better.
