Question 175564: X+3 X
_________ - _____ = X
4 2
I have worked this problem for 3 days and have come up with all sorts of answers. It's been over a decade since I took any kind of math, and I really need help. It's for my Pharmacy course I just recently enrolled in. To explain the equation, it is: x+3 over 4, minus x over 2 equals x. PLEASE and THANK YOU!!!! The equation gets a little jumbled when I submit it. Sorry for that. Answer by Mathtut(3670) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! hopefully I have this right

remember in order to add or subtract fractions, you need to have like terms. The way to do that is to make the denominator the same(LCD). In this case the LCD is 4 so multiply each term top and bottom in order to reach that goal of 4 in the denominator. first term needs no help but the second needs to be multiplied by 2 top and bottom( we multiply top and bottom so that the equation remains equivalent.)
: multiplied terms left side to accomplish our common denominator of 4
: collected top terms over our common denominator
: combined like terms on left
: cross multiplied
: added x to both sides
