Dealing with fractions and equations we need to cross multiply.
-2k/7=36/1
The left numerator (-2k) times right denominator (1) equals the right numerator (36) times the left denominator (7). Thus we have:
-2k*1=36*7
-2k=252
k=252/-2
k=-126 ans.
Proof:
-2*-126/7=36
252/7=36
36=36
