Question 170531: I am not a student, just doing some practice math for an engineering tech asst position at my current employer. I haven't been to school in 11 years and am just trying to refresh my memory. The problem I got stummped on is below:

4x-7=x/2
I've tried to mulitply/divide/add/subtract and somewhere I am getting all jumbled up. If you solve it could you please show me the steps taken. I am missing something due to there being a variable on both sides of the equation.
Thanks so much
Angel

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
multiplying by 2 to clear fraction __ 8x-14=x ___ the 2 is distributed over all terms

subtracting x and adding 14 __ 7x=14

dividing by 7 __ x=2
