You can put this solution on YOUR website!
If you equate the 2 rate to get the # of travel in miles, you're paying the same amount either you take Rate1 or Rate2.
When you go over this computed travel in miles, Rate2 will be a better choice. Let's see:
Let x= travelled distance in miles
Rate1=Rate2
72%2B%280.16%2Fmile%29x=144%2B%280.08%2Fmile%29x
%280.16x%2Fmile%29-%280.08x%2Fmile%29=144-72
%280.08x%2Fmile%29=72 ----> %28cross%280.08%29x%29%2Fcross%280.08%29mile=cross%2872%29900%2Fcross%280.08%29
x=900miles, We'll check each Rate
Rate1: 72%2B%280.16%2Fcross%28mile%29%29%28900cross%28miles%29%29=72%2B144=$216.00
Rate2: 144%2B%280.08%2Fcross%28mile%29%29%28900cross%28miles%29%29=144%2B72=$216.00
If travelled 900 miles, you can choose either Rate bec you'll pay the same
Let's try 901miles
Rate1:72%2B%280.16%2Fcross%28mile%29%29%28901cross%28miles%29%29=72%2B144.16=$216.16
Rate2:144%2B%280.08%2Fcross%28mile%29%29%28901cross%28miles%29%29=144%2B72.08=$216.08
.
In conclusion, you'll get more savings on Rate2 if you travel more than 900 miles. Try 1500 miles? 3000 miles?
Thank you,
