Question 14864: x^2-9x+20=
Answer by jb007mi6(53) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! so...the solution would be (x-5)(x-4)
i got this because of factoring by grouping, what two numbers add to give you negative nine and multiply to give you positive 20
what you is find the two numbers...they are -5 and -4
you would represent this in the question as x^2-5x-4x+20...it's the same thing
then from the first two terms you factor out and x and from the second two terms you factor out a 4...watch out for the negative sign
x(x-5)-4(x-5)
then factor (x-5)from both terms
and you get (x-5)(x-4)
