Question 142901: Solve each equation
Alice is making casserole snacks. Each snack will be 2 inches by 4 inches. How many snacks will she have if she bakes 4 batches, each in 12-inch by 16-inch baking pan?
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Using just area, we can see that each snack is 8 square inches. Each pan is 12*16 = 196 square inches. So each pan yields 24 snacks. There are 4 batches, so she will make 24*4 snacks.
The only othr considertion is to ensure that the dimensions of the snacks fit 'well' into the dimensions of the pan. Think of each snack as a little rectangle. Then note that 4 snacks can be put side by side to create a 'row' of snacks that fit into 1/6 of the the pan. So we could look at the solution that way.
4 snacks across, times 6 rows of snacks. Again, 24 snacks per pan.
