All we have to do is to write the formula down and replace the numbers:
x+=+%28-b+%2B-+sqrt%28+b%5E2-4%2Aa%2Ac+%29%29%2F%282%2Aa%29+ Our ecuation is
w^2-2w-24 so aw^2+bw+c where a is 1, b is -2 and c is -24.
so we have now:
x+=+%28-%28-2%29+%2B-+sqrt%28+%28-2%29%5E2-4%2A1%2A%28-24%29+%29%29%2F%282%2Aa%29+
so simplified is:
(2+-sqrt(100)) /2 which is 2+-10)/2
so one solution is (2+10)/2=6 and the other solution is (2-10)/2=-4
