The easiest way to go about solving this one is to find a common denomonator for each term, and cancel all of them out together.

x%2F3 - 1%2F4 = 3x - 8%2F12

All of the denomonators have twelve as a common multiple, so...

4x%2F12 - 3%2F12 = 36x%2F12 - 8%2F12

Now we may cancel the 12's which leaves us with

4x -3 = 36x -8

So we can solve it like any regular equation.

5 = 32x

x = 5%2F32
