.
two trains leave the station at the same time, one heading east and the other west.
The eastbound train travels at 75 miles per hour. The westbound train travels at 95 mph.
how long will it take for the two trains to be 442 miles apart? Don't do any rounding.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The trains move in opposite directions - therefore, the rate of increasing the distance between them
is the sum  75 + 95 = 170 miles per hour.
Hence, the time when they are 442 miles apart is  442%2F170 = 13%2F5 = 2 3%2F5  hours = 2 hours and 36 minutes.    ANSWER
Solved.
They are separating at the rate of 75+95=170 miles per hour.
