Hello,  Math has its own language and its own rules of writing.

Using mixture of words and symbols,  as you do in your post,  is not writing Math.


Also,  using the phone keyboard does not provide an equivalent or adequate writing  Math.

Combine like terms -- terms that are the same kind of things, based on the variables in each term.

Compare it to this:

(9 apples) + (1 orange) + (-$5) - (9 apples) + ($2)

You would obviously combine the apples and combine the oranges and combine the dollar amounts; but you wouldn't combine apples and oranges. You started with 9 apples but then took away 9 apples, so you are left with no apples; the -$5 and +$2 combine to give you -$3. So

(9 apples) + (1 orange) + (-$5) - (9 apples) + ($2) = (1 orange) + (-$3)

In the same way,

(9z) + (x) + (-5) - (9z) + (2) = (0z)+(x)+(-3) x-3
