Question 117201: Can anyone tell me if I did this right.
x/10=9/30
Solve for x
Factors 9 and 30 have greatest common factor of 3. Reducing fraction.
It becomes x/10=3/10
Move these terms to the left - 3/10
It now becomes x/10-3/10=0
Solved linear equation x/10-3/10 equivalent to 0.1•x-0.3=0
It becomes 0=0
Solution x=3
If not can you show me where I went wrong. Found 2 solutions by jim_thompson5910, stanbon:Answer by jim_thompson5910(35256) (Show Source):
So you are correct, but I'm not sure where you got the step "0=0". As always, you can check this by plugging the solution back into the original equation
--------------------------------------
Check:
Start with the given equation
Plug in x=3
Reduce the right side. Since the two sides of the equation are equal, this verifies our answer.
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Solved linear equation x/10-3/10 equivalent to 0.1•x-0.3=0
0.1x = 0.3
x = 0.3/0.1
x = 3
