Get LCD by multiplying numerator and denominator of the first fraction by 2.

you needed to put everything under a common denominator.

you do that by multiplying 1/(a+b) by 2/2 to get 2/(2*(a+b))

once you do that, you just add the numerators together under the common denominator of 2*(a+b).
