Let x be the amount Jason starts with; then the amount Walker starts with is 2x.

After Walker gives Jason $11, Jason has x+11 and Walker has 2x-11. Those two amounts are the same.

x%2B11+=+2x-11

Solve for x using basic algebra.

Then remember the question that is asked is the total amount the two of them have, which is 3x.
