You can put this solution on YOUR website!
If you mean:
-3%2F4=k-1%2F3+
---
Add 1/3 to each side
1%2F3+-+3%2F4+=+k
k+=+1%2F3+-+3%2F4+=+4%2F12+-+9%2F12
k = -5/12

You can put this solution on YOUR website!

Put a 1 under the k so that everything will be a fraction
with a numerator and a denominator:

The denominators are 4,1,3. They can all be divided into 12,
which is their LCM or LCD. So we will multiply all the terms by
12. But first let's put parentheses around all the terms:

Now we multiply every term by

           %2812%5E%22%22%2F1%5E%22%22%29

and get:

Then we cancel

All that is left, when we ignore the denominators of 1, is this

Then we add +4 to both sides:

matrix%281%2C5%2C%0D%0A%0D%0A-5%2C%22%22%2C%22%22=%22%22%2C%22%22%2C12k%29

Then we divide both sides by 12

matrix%281%2C5%2C%0D%0A%0D%0A-5%2F12%2C%22%22%2C%22%22=%22%22%2C%22%22%2C12k%2F12%29

Then we cancel the 12's

And finally we have:

matrix%281%2C5%2C%0D%0A%0D%0A-5%2F12%2C%22%22%2C%22%22=%22%22%2C%22%22%2Ck%29
