I need help with this question please. The question is above, and the table that I look at that has the answer is below:

Land Area
Continent or Region (1000 mi2)
Europe 3,800

What I do not understand is the Land Area (1,000 mi 2) the 2 is a little 2 to the second power i think it means??!! How do I figure out the answer as to the total area of Europe? Do I multiply 1000 x 2 then add or multiply to the 3,800? Help me please!!

3800*1000=38,800,000 mi^2
mi^2 or is a short way of writing square miles.
The reason they put 1000 mi^2 at the top of the column is so they wouldn't have to write such large numbers down th column.
