You can put this solution on YOUR website!

5p%2F7-18=-43 Start with the given equation

%287%29%285p%2F7-18%29=%287%29%28-43%29 Multiply both sides by the LCM of 7. This will eliminate the fractions (note: if you need help with finding the LCM, check out this solver)

5p-126=-301 Distribute and multiply the LCM to each side

5p=-301%2B126Add 126 to both sides

5p=-175 Combine like terms on the right side

p=%28-175%29%2F%285%29 Divide both sides by 5 to isolate p

p=-35 Divide

We can solve this equation just like it's any other algebraic equation. Don't be discouraged by the fractions.

We begin with
5p/7 -18 = -43

We subtract the negetive 18 from each side of the equation:
5p/7 = -25

And now, we multiply both sides by the reciprical of the fraction, (this is the denomonator over the numorator) When we do this, the numbers cross cancel and leave us only with the variable.

(7/5)5p/7 = (7/5)(-25)

p = -35
