Rewrite as 3x^2-2x-6=0. This setting everything on one side equalling 0 must be done.
a=3 b= -2 c= -6
x=(1/6)(2+/- sqrt(4-4*3*-6)); sqrt term is sqrt (76), or 2 sqrt (19)
The 2s on the top cancel out part of the 6 below
x=(1/3)(1+/- sqrt(19))
This is about +1.7 and -1.1
