Question 1102837: Amanda, Bryan, and Colin are in a book club. Amanda reads twice as many books as Bryan per month and Colin reads 4 fewer than 3 times as many books as Bryan in a month. In 4 months, the number of books Amanda reads is equal to 5/8 the sum of the number of books Bryan and Colin read in 4 months. How many books does each person read each month? Write an equation and use it to solve this situation.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let b be the number of books Bryan reads each month. Then Amanda is 2b; and Colin is 3b-4. Then:
4(2b)=5/8(4)(b+3b-4)
64b=80b-80
16b=80
b=5
Bryan reads 5 books a month; Amanda reads 10: and Colin reads 11
