Ok, so first, open up that pesky parenthetical expression by multiplying both x and 9 by 1/3:
%281%2F3%29+%2A+%28x%2B9%29+=+%281%2F2%29%2Ax
= x%2F3++%2B++3+=++x%2F2
so...
3*2=6, so lets multiply both sides by 6 and see what happens:
6x%2F3+%2B+18+=+6x%2F2
which simplifies to:
2x+%2B+18+=+3x
now the rest is a breeze!
subtract 2x from both sides to get
18+=+x
