I'm assuming the original equation is -16+=+x%2F4+%2B+2

To check the answer, plug it in for x and evaluate the right side

-16+=+x%2F4+%2B+2

-16+=+%28-72%29%2F4+%2B+2 Replace every x with -72

-16+=+-18+%2B+2

-16+=+-16

Since the last equation is true, this means that the first equation is true when x+=+-72.

So you have the correct answer. Nice job.
