You can put this solution on YOUR website!
14x+3y=1
4x-y=4; y=4x-4
substitute
14x+3(4x-4)=1
14x+12x-12=1
26x=13
x=1/2
substitute into first equation
7+3y=1
3y=-6
y=-2
check in second
4(1/2)-(-2)=2+2=4, checks
(1/2, -2)

You can put this solution on YOUR website!

14x%2B3y=1
4x-y=4.........both sides multiply by 3
------------------------------
14x%2B3y=1
12x-3y=12
---------------add
14x%2B3y%2B12x-3y=1%2B12
26x=13
x=13%2F26
x=1%2F2
go to
14x%2B3y=1, substitute x
14%281%2F2%29%2B3y=1
7%2B3y=1
3y=1-7
3y=-6
y=-6%2F3
y=-2
