1/2x+3=7?
isolate the x
subtract 3 from both sides. That removes the 3 on the left
(1/2)x=4
Now, multiply both sides by 2. That will change the (1/2) x to 1x, and that is solving for x
x=8, because 4*2=8
check this
(1/2)*8+3=4+3=7, which is correct.
