OK, this one by substitution:
4B = A therefore B = A/4
2A+2B = 49 substitute for B:
2A+2(A/4) = 49 distribute the 2 (Distributive Property of Multiplication)
2A+A/2 = 49 multiply all sides times 2
4A+A = 98
5A = 98
A = 19.6
B = A/4
B = 19.6/4 = 4.9

2A+2B = 49
2(19.6)+2(4.9)= 49
39.2+9.8 = 49 Correct

4B = A ------- eq (i)

2A + 2B = 49 ----- eq (ii)

2(4B) + 2B = 49 ------ Substituting 4B for A in eq (ii)

8B + 2B = 49

10B = 49

B = highlight_green%28matrix%281%2C3%2C+49%2F10%2C+or%2C+4.9%29%29

A = highlight_green%28matrix%281%2C3%2C+4%284.9%29%2C+or%2C+19.6%29%29

That's it....nothing CONFUSING and/or COMPLEX!!
