In a certain school, there are 76 more boys than girls. If there are 1082 students in total in the school, how many boys are there in the school?

Add (mentally) another 76 girls to the school population.
You will get 1082 + 76 = 1158 for the updated total population, consisting of equal number of boys and girls.
Now divide this amount 1158 by 2 (in two equal groups).
