Question 1035417: Mary Jo spends $2,160 to buy stock in two companies. She pays $20 a share to one of the companies and $24 a share to the other. If she ends up with a total of 100 shares, how many shares did she buy at $20 a share and how many did she buy at $24 a share? Answer by jorel555(1290) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Let x=shares in 1st company; shares in 2nd company equals 100-x. Then:
20x+24(100-x)=2160
20x+2400-24x=2160
4x=240
x=60
So she bought 60 shares of the first stock, and 40 shares of the second!!!!!!!!!
