Question 1028729: Hi. im Michelle. im in highschool. I take math core. our teacher gave us holiday homework and I was wondering if you could maybe help me.
My question is :
Solve for x where x = < 90 degrees.
+cot+%282x+%2B+25+degrees%29+=+2.4+
Thank you so much to whose who try to help me. I really would love your help. You are amazing and don't let anyone tell you anything different.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
+cot%28+2x+%2B+25+%29+=+2.4+ ( using degrees )
Use the inverse cot function:
+arc+cot+%28+2.4+%29+=+2x+%2B+25+
I can look up the left side on my calculator
+22.62+=+2x+%2B+25+
+2x+=+-2.38+
+x+=+-1.19+
( x is less than 90 degrees. Hope this is what
they are looking for )
--------------
check answer:
+cot%28+2x+%2B+25+%29+=+2.4+
+cot%28+2%2A%28-1.19%29+%2B+25+%29+=+2.4+
+cot%28+-2.38+%2B+25+%29+=+2.4+
+cot%28+22.62+%29+=+2.4+
+.416669+-+.416667+
close enough

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
First remember that cot(y) =cos(y)/sen(y), so y may be betweeen (0,90) or (180,270)
Arc cot (2,4) = 22,62 degrees or 202,62 degrees (first and thirds cuadrant)
2x + 25 =22,62 or 2x + 25 = 202,62 where x > =0 and x<=90
X =-1,19 or x =88,81 where x>=0 and x<=90
So solution is x=88,81 degrees.
Obs: calculator gives only 22,62. So the other one: 202,62 degrees is 180 + 22,62)
