Question 102309: 120=7x+2-10
Answer by JP(22) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! 120=7x+2-10
First you must take 2-10 to get -8.
So you now have 120=7x-8.
Next you must add 8 to the other side to get 128=7x.
Then you take 128/7 because you divide by 7x by 7 to get the variable x alone.
128/7=x
To check your answer plug your solution 128/7 into your original equation for every instance of x.
120=7(128/7)-8
7(128/7) this multiplication operation causes the 7's to cancel leaving 128
120=128-8, you then subtract 128-8 to get 120
120=120 thus, proving the solution is valid.
Hope this helps.
